## BrandYourself

BrandYourself offers personal reputation-management software with a public profile that can link to your website and other professional profiles. The inspected website links in its Links section are nofollow, so use it as a personal-brand reference rather than a dofollow SEO shortcut.

BrandYourself is a fit when you want a public professional profile for yourself, with a link to your own site. It is not a general company directory. The useful location is the profile's **Links** section, where public examples show direct outbound website links with `rel="nofollow"`.

### Build a personal profile and select your website

1. Open [BrandYourself's signup page](https://brandyourself.com/sign-up). The current form asks for your full name, email and password, then offers **Submit & Start Scan**. Use the name people actually search for when looking you up.
2. Follow the [official profile-building guide](https://brandyourself.com/university/guide/build-your-brandyourself-profile). It describes opening **Profile** in the **Reputation Builder**, then choosing **Build My profile**. These are the documented labels; the signed-in editor was not independently tested for this guide.
3. Upload a professional photo and complete the relevant Basics, Experience and Education sections. The guide specifies a 125 × 125 pixel photo. Write a genuine biography rather than a block of target keywords, and save each section.
4. Add your own website to **Properties**. In the profile's **Links** section, select that property to display it publicly. The guide also describes **Link to all**, but selecting only relevant properties keeps the profile focused. If the website does not appear as a choice, check that you added it to Properties first.
5. Save your changes and open the public profile link shown in the editor. Check its Links page while signed out: the website should be visible and the actual destination should match your intended URL.

The [public Patrick Ahern Links page](https://patrickahern.brandyourself.com/Links) shows the result: a list of professional links that includes a personal website.

### Check the actual link, not just its label

The example displays `https://patrickahern.com/`, but its HTML anchor actually points to `http://patrickahern.com/` and includes `rel="nofollow"`. That mismatch is a useful reminder to test your own saved destination rather than trusting the displayed text. A second inspected [public Links page](https://shanawhitmarsh.brandyourself.com/Links) also marks its website links nofollow.

Some separate social-profile anchors use `rel="me"`. That does not change the classification of the website-link method described here: **treat it as nofollow**, not a clean dofollow backlink.

### Free profile, modest expectations

The official profile guide says profiles are available to both free and Premium members, with domain customization listed as a Premium option. A paid reputation-management service is not required by that documented basic profile method. Check your account's current options before upgrading; the authenticated editor and checkout were not tested.

A new personal subdomain starts with little authority of its own, regardless of BrandYourself's root-domain reputation. Use the profile to help people connect your name, professional background and website—not as a promise of rankings or link equity. Only add sites you genuinely represent, and avoid publishing personal details you do not want publicly accessible.
