Flipboard is useful when you already have an article, guide, resource page, or announcement that belongs in a curated Magazine. The practical backlink path is not a profile website field; it is a public Flipboard item that points readers from a Magazine card to the original source.

### Best method: flip a useful URL into a public Magazine

1. Create or sign in to a [Flipboard account](https://flipboard.com/signup).
2. Open your profile and create a new Magazine. Flipboard's help center says to use **Create a New Magazine**, add a title and description, and choose whether the Magazine is public or private.
3. Keep the Magazine public. A private Magazine will not create a useful public backlink surface.
4. Add, or "flip," a relevant URL into that Magazine. Flipboard's help center says Magazines can contain articles, videos, Notes, photos, or URLs.
5. Open the public Flipboard item and check that it shows a **Read more on...** link to the original source.

The inspected public example below is a Flipboard item for an Ars Technica article. Its visible CTA says **Read more on arstechnica.com**, but the raw HTML uses a `flipboard.com/redirect?url=...` link with `rel="noopener nofollow"`.

### What the link is worth

Do not count Flipboard as a clean dofollow backlink source. The inspected example routes the outbound click through Flipboard's redirect endpoint and marks the anchor nofollow, even though Flipboard's RSS feed also exposes direct source URLs with Flipboard tracking parameters.

That still leaves a legitimate use case: a relevant public Magazine can send referral traffic, give your source URL another discovery surface, and make the piece easier for Flipboard users to share. It is most useful for publishers, bloggers, resource curators, and companies with genuinely interesting articles—not for dropping a homepage link into an empty account.

### Keep the Magazine credible
