## Podomatic

Podomatic hosts podcasts and their public show pages. A genuine podcast can use its show description to link to an official website or relevant resource, but a pasted URL is not necessarily a clickable backlink.

- Backlink value: 4/100

Podomatic is useful when you already have a podcast or genuinely intend to publish one. The backlink opportunity is the **public show description**: explain your show and include a relevant link to its website, supporting material, or creator page. Do not create an empty show just to drop an unrelated URL.

## Add a hyperlink to your podcast description

1. Create a [free Podomatic account](https://www.podomatic.com/signup). Email signup asks for your name, email address, password, CAPTCHA, and acceptance of the site's terms and privacy policy.
2. Set up your podcast with its title, description, category, and artwork. Podomatic's [podcast settings guide](https://www.podomatic.com/help-center/articles/podcast-settings-what-do-they-mean-and-what-are-they-for) explains these fields and links to [Settings](https://www.podomatic.com/settings), which requires login.
3. In the show description, insert a hyperlink to a page that genuinely supports the podcast. Save the description. **Do not assume that typing a URL makes it clickable:** the public Pitch Talk description contained website addresses as plain text when checked, while the Mechanism description contained actual HTML links. Exact link-insertion controls are inside the authenticated editor and were not inspected for this guide.
4. Publish your real episodes rather than leaving a link-only shell. The [uploading guide](https://www.podomatic.com/help-center/articles/uploading-how-do-i-upload-files-that-i-want-to-publish) describes the **Media Library → Add New** and **Post New** upload routes. The time estimate assumes your audio and artwork are already prepared; recording a show is additional work.
5. Open your public show page while logged out. Expand **more** if necessary, click the website link, and confirm it reaches the intended destination. If the editor only saves plain text, do not count that as a backlink.

The [Official Mechanism Podcast page](https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/mechanism) demonstrates the result: its expanded description links to Patreon, Buy Me a Coffee, and Linktree.

## Link behavior and practical value

The inspected Buy Me a Coffee and Patreon links were direct outbound anchors in both the fetched HTML and the expanded browser DOM, with **no `nofollow`, `ugc`, or `sponsored` attributes**. That is the basis for the dofollow classification here; it does not mean every URL typed into every Podomatic description becomes a dofollow link. The example's HTTP links redirect at the destination to HTTPS, not through a Podomatic tracking service. Prefer your destination's canonical HTTPS URL when adding your own link.

Treat this as a useful connection between a podcast and its website, not as an authority shortcut. The backlink-value estimate describes a new show's page, not Podomatic's root-domain reputation. Free account creation is available, but the example does not establish which plan its owner uses; confirm that your own account can save the hyperlink before considering an upgrade.

Episode descriptions are a related option: Podomatic's uploading documentation explicitly says links to higher-quality videos can be added there. Their link attributes were not separately verified, so the dofollow finding above applies only to the inspected **show-description** method.
