Portfolium is Instructure's ePortfolio network for students, alumni, and educators to publish portfolio projects. A public project entry can include an external source URL, giving legitimate portfolio work a visible backlink from a Portfolium project page.

Portfolium works as a backlink source when you already have real portfolio work to show. The backlink comes from a public project entry's external source link, not from the generic Portfolium homepage.

## Steps

1. Start at [Portfolium's add-entry URL](https://portfolium.com/entry/add). If you are not signed in, Portfolium redirects to a login page that says you must log in to add a new entry to your portfolio.
2. Create or sign in to a Portfolium account using email, Google, or your institution's SSO when applicable.
3. Create a portfolio project entry with a real title, category, description, image/document/video evidence, and any skills or tags that make the work understandable.
4. Add the relevant external URL as the project's source or link attachment. Use a project page, repository, demo, case study, or canonical article that directly supports the portfolio item.
5. Publish the entry publicly and open the public `https://portfolium.com/entry/<slug>` page to verify the external link appears.

Do not use Portfolium as a thin link-hosting page. It is more defensible when the link is part of a real student, alumni, design, software, or career portfolio project. The SEO value is limited by the nofollow attribute and the low authority of most user-generated entries, but a complete project page can still be useful as a public proof-of-work citation.
