SoundCloud is worth using when your brand already has a real audio angle: music, podcasts, labels, events, or creator education. The backlink path is a public profile link, not a high-authority editorial citation, so the value is mainly referral traffic, brand discovery, and trust for people who find your tracks.

## Method: Add a website link to your SoundCloud profile

1. Create or sign in to a [SoundCloud account](https://soundcloud.com/signin).
2. Open your public profile and choose **Edit** or go directly to [profile settings](https://soundcloud.com/settings/profile) while logged in.
3. Add a clear display name, avatar, short bio, and location so the profile looks legitimate.
4. In the profile links or web profile section, add your website, Linktree, shop, podcast page, or other canonical URL.
5. Save the profile and open the public profile URL in a logged-out or private browser session.
6. Confirm the link is visible in the right-side profile links area or in the profile description.

Example: [Zencar on SoundCloud](https://soundcloud.com/zencar) shows an **EV Adapter** profile link that redirects through SoundCloud's outbound gateway to `zencar.net`.

## Link quality notes

SoundCloud profile and description links should be treated as **nofollow/UGC redirect links**. In rendered-page testing, profile web links used `rel="me nofollow ugc"`; description URLs used `rel="nofollow ugc"`; and both were routed through `gate.sc` rather than linking directly to the destination. That makes SoundCloud useful for discovery, reputation, and traffic from listeners, but not a substitute for a direct editorial backlink.

Use the profile link only when the account has a genuine reason to exist. Publish a sample track, podcast trailer, demo reel, or playlist before relying on the backlink, and avoid turning SoundCloud into a generic link drop.
