How to get a backlink from Facebook Pages?

Facebook Pages are useful as a brand-trust and referral backlink source, not as a clean SEO authority link. The practical method is to create a real Page and add your official website in the Page’s contact or basic information section.

Method: Add your website to a Facebook Page

  1. Start from facebook.com/pages/create and create a Page for a legitimate business, brand, creator, organisation, or community.
  2. Complete the Page name, category, description, profile image, and any required basic information so the Page does not look like a throwaway backlink page.
  3. Open the Page management/editing area and find the Page’s contact, basic info, or website fields.
  4. Add your canonical website URL and save the Page.
  5. Visit the public Page’s About area while signed out or in another browser to confirm the website appears publicly.

A public Meta Page example shows website links in the About/contact section:

The important catch is the link attribute. On the inspected Meta Page, the visible http://meta.com/ website link rendered as an l.facebook.com/l.php URL with rel="nofollow noreferrer". A header check of that Facebook linkshim URL also returned x-robots-tag: noindex, nofollow before refreshing to the destination site. Treat Facebook Page website links as nofollow, redirect-backed links.

That does not make the Page useless. A real Facebook Page can help users verify your brand, discover your official site from Facebook search, and follow a trusted company profile from other marketing channels. Just do not create a thin Page only for backlink value; incomplete or spammy Pages are unlikely to help readers or survive platform review.

Backlink valueEditorial estimateBacklink value is our 0-100 editorial estimate of how much authority a page you create here would actually carry. We score the page you would end up with - not the provider homepage - from how strongly the platform links to and indexes that page type, how much editorial review stands behind it, and what comparable pages are worth in practice. Most new pages anywhere are worth little; a few platforms hand a fresh page real strength straight away. It is a comparison estimate, not a measurement, and it will not match any third-party tool.

Facebook Pages let businesses, creators, organisations, and local brands publish a public presence on facebook.com. A Page can show one or more website links in its About/contact information, but Facebook routes those links through its own linkshim and marks them nofollow.
